Eden Innovations Launches EdenShield Division in Defence and Infrastructure Push

Key points

  • Eden Innovations launches EdenShield division for defence/infrastructure markets.

  • Secures $4.05M placement to fund division's expansion and commercialisation.

  • Leverages CNT materials and dual-fuel power for high-performance applications.

Eden Innovations (ASX: EDE) has officially launched EdenShield, a new division focused on commercialising its carbon nanotube (CNT) based concrete additives, materials, and dual-fuel backup power technology.

The EdenShield division will specifically target the defence, military, and critical infrastructure markets.

These include applications for drones, data centres, bunkers, military bases, hospitals, and various defence-related buildings.

Key product offerings under EdenShield include EdenCrete for enhanced blast resistance and integrated EMP/radio-frequency shielding.

The OptiBlend dual-fuel system is also a core technology for extended backup power.

$4.05m Placement Fuels Expansion

A $4.05 million institution-led placement was also announced, issuing 22.5 million fully paid ordinary shares.

The shares were priced at $0.18 each, matching the ASX last traded price and representing a 41% premium to the 15-day VWAP of approximately $0.13.

The placement saw cornerstone participation from L1 Capital Global Opportunities Master Fund.

Subject to shareholder approval, free attaching options will be issued on the basis of one option for every two placement shares, exercisable at $0.20 and expiring on 15 October 2028.

Proceeds from this capital raise will fast-track EdenShield's expansion and support the ongoing commercialisation of the company's existing technologies, as well as provide working capital.

CNT Materials for Defence Applications

EdenCrete CNT-enhanced concrete additives are designed for ultra-high performance concrete.

These additives offer enhanced blast resistance, superior durability, and improved thermal performance.

Furthermore, EdenCrete is positioned to provide integrated electromagnetic pulse and radio-frequency shielding when embedded in concrete structures.

This offers protection for aircraft, drones, ships, equipment, and critical infrastructure against EMI, HEMP, and electronic warfare attacks.

The company's next-generation product pipeline includes EdenPlast CNT-enhanced lightweight high-strength polymers for drones/UAVs, advanced CNT coatings and paints, and radiation-absorbent materials for defence and aerospace applications.

OptiBlend Enhances Backup Power

The OptiBlend dual-fuel system offers a significant advantage in backup power solutions, a proven technology that has been in use for 18 years.

It can extend backup power duration by up to 150% by replacing up to 70% of the required diesel with lower-cost natural gas.

An example highlights its capability to extend backup power from an average of four days to 10 days.

OptiBlend is particularly relevant in mitigating fuel cost pressures, especially with record-high diesel prices.

Its dual-fuel capability also contributes to a lower CO2 footprint, aligning with contemporary environmental considerations.

Strategic Shift Into Defence

Eden Innovations is strategically positioning its advanced materials and power solutions for the defence and critical infrastructure sectors through its new EdenShield division.

The successful capital raise provides the necessary funding to pursue this high-value market, leveraging existing technologies like EdenCrete and OptiBlend.
