Emyria (ASX: EMD) is on track to open its first Sydney clinic in September 2026 after completing the fit-out, assembling its initial clinical team, and securing key medication and healthcare arrangements.
The clinic will establish Emyria’s first presence in New South Wales and extend its existing network across Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia into the country’s most populous state.
Around 20 Sydney-based therapists and four psychiatrists have been recruited and trained, while two of those psychiatrists have obtained Authorised Prescriber status ahead of the launch.
The first patients have already been approved for treatment through the workers compensation pathway and are expected to begin treatment shortly after the clinic opens.
Pharmaceutical Arrangements
The Sydney clinic has been furnished and equipped with four dedicated treatment rooms, giving the new site its initial physical capacity to support patient care from opening.
Emyria has secured pharmacy and pharmaceutical arrangements alongside a formal agreement with Matilda Nepean Private Hospital, completing several of the operational foundations required for the new site.
The initial group of Authorised Prescribers gives the clinic capacity to commence relevant treatments once operations begin, while the trained therapists and psychiatrists provide its starting clinical workforce.
“Sydney represents an important expansion of Emyria’s national footprint and provides the company with a presence in Australia’s largest population market,” executive chair Greg Hutchinson said.
“Importantly, it will create a new pathway for patients across NSW seeking access to specialist and evidence-based mental health treatments.”
National Clinical Network
The Sydney opening forms part of Emyria’s strategy to expand a national clinical network for patients who have not achieved adequate outcomes from conventional mental health care.
Its model combines direct clinical services with treatment development and the evaluation of emerging therapies, including psychedelic-assisted approaches, while building the practitioner network and infrastructure needed for delivery.
Emyria cites growing pharmaceutical investment and policy support as signs of broader interest in emerging mental health therapies, including Eli Lilly’s approximately $3.8 billion acquisition of AtaiBeckley and Johnson & Johnson leading an $85 million investment in Delix Therapeutics.
The group also points to US policy initiatives intended to accelerate access to emerging psychedelic-based treatments as part of the changing international environment for new mental health treatment options.
Emyria plans to use its expanding network to respond to that demand in Australia while continuing to develop the clinical infrastructure, practitioner capacity and patient pathways supporting evidence-based intensive mental health care nationally.
